What is BOTOX?

Botox is among the most popular of all injectables, and for a good reason – it works. However, for results that appear refreshed and natural, you need your injections to be performed by a skincare expert with an exceptional level of experience and who understands how to inject BOTOX correctly.

How does BOTOX work?

Botox works by halting the constant facial motions that cause deep wrinkles and lines. As your facial muscles contract, over and over, your skin will eventually develop lines and creases across the forehead, crow’s feet around your eyes, or other signs of aging skin related to your expressions. The art of injecting BOTOX ensures a precision treatment that treats the correct muscle strands with the right quantity of product, allowing the skin to smooth.

A professional BOTOX treatment results in a younger, refreshed, healthy look. BOTOX is FDA-approved, and the treatment requires only minutes to complete. The active ingredient works to reduce muscle activity in the targeted area temporarily. It is a purified protein that blocks the nerve signals to specific muscle strands for a smoother, more youthful facial look.

After BOTOX injections: What is the recovery time?

BOTOX takes several days to activate, and it can take up to a week before results become visible. Immediately after the injections, you may have a slightly reddened look at the injection sites or tiny bumps. To avoid bruising, do not take any over-the-counter painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin, and avoid blood-thinning supplements before your treatment.

The rules for recovery are:

  • Do not touch or massage your face
  • No workouts for 24 hours
  • Avoid saunas or intense heat

How long does BOTOX last?

To maintain a refreshed, youthful look, you will need to have injections every three to four months, although this varies. Many people who undergo regular BOTOX injections find that the results can last longer with time. The results can take five to seven years off your appearance and are very rewarding!

Does Botox help with excessive sweating/hyperhidrosis?

Botox in New York is more than an outstanding anti-wrinkle treatment. Botox is also a very effective anti-perspiration treatment for patients who suffer from hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. To help patients who are dealing with this concern, Botox is injected to inhibit the nerve signals in the underarms that communicate to the sweat glands, causing them to over-produce sweat. When Botox is injected, and the nerve signals are blocked, the over-production of sweat is effectively inhibited.

Your body will still be able to release sweat from other areas in the body, making this FDA-approved treatment safe for use. Patients may also have Botox injected into the palms of the hands and soles of the feet to address excess sweating in these areas. Results are effective for 6-9 months.

BOTOX FAQs

How is BOTOX different from dermal fillers?

BOTOX contains a purified substance that forces the muscles to relax, which minimizes lines and wrinkles caused by the muscles that make facial expressions. Dermal fillers add fullness to hollow or sunken areas, which also firms and contours sagging skin. This helps improve the appearance of wrinkles, but dermal fillers are not wrinkle relaxers like BOTOX.

Is BOTOX painful?

A numbing agent can be applied to help reduce discomfort, but even without it, pain is minimal because the needle used is so fine. With expert applications, some patients do not even notice when the injections are done. Patients who do feel it describe the sensation of a little pinch.

How much does BOTOX cost?

BOTOX prices vary depending on how much is needed or how many areas are treated. The range is usually between $250-$500 per treatment area.
