The Vampire Facial – PRP Facial
Our Vampire Facial NYC procedure, also known as the PRP Facial, is the leading anti-aging solution for patients who are looking to refresh their skin’s appearance without surgery. This has allowed us to help thousands of women and men look younger and more rejuvenated without having to undergo any surgical procedures. The PRP Facial procedure involves using the patient’s own blood platelets known as PRP to minimize or eliminate acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines and other unwanted signs of aging on the face.

The Vampire Facelift® – PRP Facelift
The Vampire Facelift®, also known as a PRP Facelift harnesses the healing and rejuvenating power of your own blood platelets to achieve a beautiful and radiant complexion. It’s similar to the Vampire Facial with the addition of an extra step where Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler is injected into the skin to add shape and volume to the patient’s face. The Vampire Facelift® Process
The Vampire Facial / PRP Facial Process
The process for the PRP Facial is very similar to the process for the Vampire Facelift®, which is described above, with the exception of step 5, which is omitted during the Vampire Facial process. The PRP Facial does not involve the use of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler. Check out our FAQ section below to learn more about the Vampire Facial.
Frequently Asked Questions About PRP Facial and PRP Facelift
The Vampire Facelift®, also known as a PRP Facelift or PRP Therapy is a similar procedure to the Vampire Facial, which is also known as a PRP Facial. The main difference between the two procedures is that the Vampire Facelift® includes the use of hyaluronic acid filler (HA), such as Juvederm or Restylane, to create a beautiful shape. Once the HA is administered, it is followed by the injection of platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) under the skin just like for a Vampire Facial. PRFM is simply a thicker form of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that helps to stimulate the release of active growth factors and cytokines to increase collagen and blood flow.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Facial and The Vampire Facial are synonymous, meaning they are the same procedure, the only difference is that the Vampire Facial is trademarked. When it comes to the treatment, however, there is no difference.
A Vampire Facial is a minimally invasive procedure that draws a small amount of the patient’s own blood which is spun in a centrifuge to separate the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) from the other blood components. This plasma facial material or PRP is then reinjected back into strategic areas of the face to smooth, plump and rejuvenate the skin.
PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is a fluid derived from you own blood. The blood is processed in a manner that concentrates the growth factors and cytokines. These blood components trigger a response in your skin and body to produce fresh younger cells. The injection of PRP or PFRM helps to activate multipotent stem cells in the adipose tissue to differentiate and regenerate new adipocytes. PRP is a perfect treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. PRP is delivered into your skin via a technique called micro-needling. The combination of microneedling and PRP rejuvenates skin to a younger look and glow.
Microneedling is a technique for administering Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) under the skin. In addition to using a blunt tip needle or cannula, the most popular method is to combine Microneedling with PRP Therapy. Microneedling first gained momentum in the 1990’s as a way to treat scars and pigmentation using devices similar to a derma roller. Today Microneedling is an advanced skin-smoothing procedure that involves using an automated “pen” to deploy tiny needles into the epidermis.
Microneedling is also called Collagen Induction Therapy or Skin Needling because the process creates microscopic channels in the dermis that stimulate fibroblast activity and collagen production. Microneedling and PRP Therapy go hand-in-hand perfectly because the tiny holes created by Microneedling are a direct pathway for the PRP to enter the dermal layers where skin rejuvenation occurs.
Microneedling is required to get the PRP and PFRM into the skin/tissue, therefore it is always done as a part of the Vampire Facial and Vampire Facelift® procedures.
It depends on your problem areas and your goals. Both treatments are designed to address mild to moderate skin aging. The Vampire Facelift®, however, is better suited for correcting volume loss in areas such as cheeks, jowls, jawline, upper/lower eyelids and sagging neck skin (“turkey neck”).
The reason it’s called a “facelift” as opposed to a “facial” is because hyaluronic acid filler (HA) recreates the youthful contours patients had when they were younger. Over time, hyaluronic acid and PRP stimulate collagen formation and structure or ‘scaffolding’ that gives the skin firmness and a youthful appearance.
A Vampire Facial, aka PRP Facial can help reduce acne scarring, texture issues, wrinkles, and sun spots; however, it will not address shape or loss of volume. So if your cheeks are going flat or your mouth corners have a downward appearance, then the Vampire Facial may not be the right procedure for you. In this case you would require the Vampire Facelift®.
A personal consultation with an accredited provider, Dr. Ammar Mahmoud is the best way to determine if The Vampire Facelift® is right for you.
The Vampire Facial and Vampire Facelift® procedure take a few hours to complete. This includes drawing blood, preparing the PRP, PRFM, HA (Vampire Facelift® only), and performing the procedure.
Since cellular regeneration and rejuvenation uses the body’s own active components, facial skin renewal can continue for about 3 months after the procedure. The overall effects of the Vampire Facelift® can last 12-18 months, which is longer than the traditional HA (hyaluronic acid based) fillers alone. PRFM lasts an average of 15 months before having to repeat the procedure. There are certain lifestyle habits that can improve and even prolong the outcome of The Vampire procedures. These include eating a healthy diet, limiting sun exposure, avoiding smoking, narcotics, alcohol and damaging skincare products.
This will vary from patient to patient; however, on average it is recommended to complete between three and four sessions. To maintain smooth, healthy-looking skin, follow-up touch-ups are recommended once or twice a year.
The recovery time tends to vary depending on each patient. Generally most patients can resume social activities within two to three days after the procedure. The benefits of the procedure takes approximately five to six weeks. We advise our patients to avoid wearing makeup for three to four days following the PRP procedure and to protect the skin from the sun during new skin cell regeneration and growth.
Most people can safely undergo a PRP Facial in our New York City Medical Spa. Since the procedure is so well-tolerated, PRP therapy is excellent for treating most skin types, even the most sensitive areas on the face and body. There are some contraindications however, such as taking certain medications or having a particular health condition. Additionally, performing a PRP Vampire Facial while pregnant or breast-feeding is not recommended. You must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible for our PRP Facial and PRP Facelift® treatments. A thorough consultation and assessment with our certified doctor will help to determine if you’re a good candidate for our New York City PRP Facial.
The Vampire Facelift® is not for everyone. If you are experiencing more advanced signs of aging you may benefit more from surgical treatments such as Botox. If you have mild signs of aging we may recommend less extensive non-surgical procedures like platelet-rich plasma or hyaluronic acid fillers alone.
The risks associated with having a PRP Facial in our New York City medical spa are minimal. Since the treatment uses autologous materials, meaning it comes from one’s own body, the chances of developing an allergic reaction or complications are extremely unlikely. Patients are sent home with a detailed list of easy to understand post-care instructions and as long as they’re followed carefully the recovery and healing process should go very smoothly.
Yes, absolutely, PRP Facials with Microneedling work extremely well to smooth and fade mild acne scarring and even stretch marks. Doing a Vampire Facial under the eyes is another key area where patients see a marked improvement in skin smoothness, brightness and reduction of dark under eye circles.
The cost of the Vampire Facial and Vampire Facelift in our NYC medical spa can range anywhere from $1800-$2500, depending on whether Hyaluronic Acid fillers are used and how many syringes are needed. If patients have some degree of sagging the doctor may recommend doing a Vampire Facelift® which specifically targets volume loss.
The down time after our Vampire Facial in NYC is minimal. It’s normal for the skin to be red and tender for the first 24-48 hours as the skin recovers and heals. For the first 72 hours patients should discontinue using active ingredients such as acids, retinols, Vitamin C and skincare that’s too harsh or irritating. It’s also best to completely avoid sun exposure, vigorous exercise, sweating, steam room or sauna. Using a full-spectrum sunblock is a must for at least one week after the Vampire Facial procedure.
Note: During the healing process it’s possible to experience some light flaking, itching and roughness. This is normal and expected and only lasts several days to a week. After 8-12 weeks the skin will be fully recovered and patients should notice improved freshness, vibrancy and a more youthful-looking complexion.
