FAQ
What is liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that involves removing fatty bulges to achieve a smoother, slimmer body shape. VASER lipo is an advanced technique that uses ultrasound energy to loosen and liquify the fat cells more easily, thereby causing less trauma to the surrounding tissues.
How does liposuction work?
With surgical liposuction a small incision is made in the skin and a thin tube called a cannula is inserted into the treated area. The cannula and suction remove excess fat from the body. Some liposuction techniques incorporate other technologies such as tumescent solution, radiofrequency or ultrasound.
How long does liposuction take?
This will depend on the number and size of areas to be treated. Generally, a VASER lipo procedure takes between one and two hours.
How long to see results from liposuction?
Patients will see immediate results after VASER lipo, with more improvement as time passes and the body heals. Usually, patients see the final results three to four months after the procedure.
How long do liposuction results last?
These results last for several years as the fat cells in the treatment area are permanently removed. A healthy lifestyle, regular exercise program, and maintaining an appropriate weight can help keep your body in the best shape possible.
How many liposuction treatments will I need?
Most patients need only one treatment; however, in some cases, additional sessions may be needed to achieve optimal results.
How often can you get liposuction?
There is no specific limitation on how often you can undergo lipo. In general, patients need to be in good health, have recovered well from any previous procedures before undergoing any liposuction touch-ups or treating other areas.
How dangerous is liposuction?
As with any major surgery, liposuction carries the following risks: bleeding, infection, reaction to anesthesia, bumpy or uneven results, poor skin elasticity, and unusual healing.
How long to recover from liposuction?
Everyone heals at a different rate. Patients can often resume all normal activities within two to three weeks after the treatment. Walking promotes faster healing. You can drive once you are comfortable and can return to work within a week. After about six weeks, you can return to vigorous exercise. Typical recovery times:
- Final contour: 3 to 6 months
- Shower or Bath: Day After Surgery
- Back to work: 2 to 3 days after surgery
- Driving: as soon as you feel comfortable
- Normal activities: as soon as you feel comfortable
- Scars: several months to one year
How much fat can be removed with liposuction?
We normally advise removing no more than about 3.5 to 4 liters.
How much weight can you lose with liposuction?
For your health and safety, we don’t typically remove more than 4 to 5% of your body weight during one session.
How many inches can you lose with liposuction?
Inch loss is not a potential target VASER lipo. You may or may not lose any inches or dress size. The area treated will appear more youthful and sculpted.
How to reduce swelling after liposuction?
Wearing the compression garment will help minimize swelling. Other treatments include lymphatic massage and rest.
How long does the pain last after liposuction?
The pain will be the most intense two to four days after the procedure, then gradually lessens. Tenderness and soreness are typical but will eventually fade. You will have pain medication for the early stages of your recovery.
How long for liposuction scars to fade?
Most scars will require several months to heal and should be shielded from the sun for at least a year.
How long after liposuction can I work out?
You can resume your exercise program six weeks after treatment.
How to get rid of lumps after liposuction?
Over time, any lumps that appear after liposuction will lessen and smooth over. Lymphatic and regular massage can assist in the process. In some cases, J Plasma treatments are the final touch.

How long do I need to wear a compression garment after liposuction?

VASER Lipo™ provides mild skin-tightening benefits. For additional skin-tightening, you can try different modalities, including J-plasma Renuvion or radiofrequency skin tightening with Profound.
What is the best food to speed healing after lipo?
To maintain good results after your VASER lipo treatment, you should incorporate fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein into your diet and reduce your intake of sugars, simple carbohydrates, and saturated fats.
How painful is liposuction?
VASER lipo is performed with local anesthetic and is painless.
Is liposuction covered by insurance?
Unfortunately, no.

What is the difference between liposuction and tummy tuck?
Liposuction involves removing areas of unwanted fat through suction. A tummy tuck is a surgical procedure in which loose skin is removed to smooth the abdominal area. During a tummy tuck it is common for liposuction to be part of the treatment.
Which is cheaper, liposuction or a tummy tuck?
Since liposuction is the less invasive and complicated surgery, it also tends to be less expensive than a tummy tuck.
Do you offer liposuction fat transfer to buttocks or other body parts?
Yes.
Can you fix a bad liposuction job from another doctor?
That will depend on the severity of the complications, but in many cases, yes.
Are you a liposuction revision specialist?
Yes.
Can you do liposuction for breast reduction?
Yes.
Do you perform double chin liposuction?
Yes.
What is chin liposuction like to experience?
First, we numb the under-chin area with a local anesthetic. Then we will make a tiny incision just under the chin. This incision point is ordinarily very small and becomes almost imperceptible once it has healed. The thin VASER probe is inserted beneath the skin into the fat layer. The device is switched on and ultrasound pulses break up the fat under the chin. The fat is suctioned, and sutures are placed to close the incision site. It may be covered with a steri-strip to allow for drainage.
VASER lipo has major advantages over less advanced systems for facial liposuction as the ultrasound energy targets just the fatty layer. Blood vessels are not damaged by the ultrasound energy, for far less bruising and swelling. You will have some swelling and possibly some bruising, but this is ordinarily minor. Any of these side effects will ordinarily subside within a few days.
You will need to wear a compression garment for some time after the procedure. This will help to minimize swelling, aid the healing process, and encourage skin tightening.
